Simon Dixon was a Brighton-based pop artist known for his bold, vibrant portraits of 20th-century icons. More than just likenesses, his works captured the energy and impact of cultural legends — from music and film to politics and pop culture.

His unique artistic voice, along with his graphic style and love of colour, gave his art both strength and soul offering a powerful tribute to the personalities he deeply respected. He painted with purpose, selecting moments in his subjects’ lives that truly defined them. His work continues to resonate, not just as visual statements, but as cultural time capsules that celebrate identity, fame, and influence.

From 2005 onwards, we represented Simon and his exceptional body of work at major UK and European art fairs. His work was regularly shown at Glasgow Art Fair alongside other Brighton-based artists, including Chris Kettle, Ben Allen, Kitty Finegan and Precious Murphy.

During the Brighton & Hove Artists Open Houses Festival, Simon’s work proved to be a significant draw at our venue, frequently selling out the pieces he chose to exhibit during the event.

From February through to the end of March 2026, we will be dedicating our website to Simon, celebrating his life, his work and the lasting impact he continues to have on our community. During this period, we will be releasing new sets of Simon Dixon Post Cards alongside a hand-pulled silkscreen print, carefully produced to honour his legacy.

With the kind permission of Simon’s family, a portion of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to the Brighton Unemployed Centre Family Project — a charity close to Simon’s heart and one that continues to provide vital support within the local community.

This dedication is intended not only as a tribute to Simon’s extraordinary talent, but also as a way of ensuring his work lives on.
